Project: Obtaining a use permit for an event space & retail store in the Piazza (CMX-3 zoning classification)
Creep Records was expanding their business into the neighboring space of their original store so they could host events like art shows, artist meet and greets, album launches, etc. The venue is called “The Creep House”.
As per the zoning code in Philly, this zoning application triggered a refusal for “nightclubs and private clubs” because it falls within the Delaware Avenue overlay district. (The Delaware Ave overlay was instituted many years ago to regulate and manage the boom of clubs popping up on Delaware Ave.)
We met with the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association, which fully supported Creep Records and their expanding business. There were a few provisos that were established between The Creep House and the NLNA, including: a maximum occupancy allotment, limited hours, sound limits, and some others.
In the process of obtaining the use permit, we acquired their amusement license and other prerequisites that were required
Creep Records is a staple business in the Piazza; it is the only original business still operating since the Piazza opened in 2009. We were happy to be able to help a local business with such a great, persistent reputation!
